Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.4 Kitkat update patience

By Alan Ng - Jan 26, 2014

With recent news of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 Kitkat update, smartphone fans are optimistic on the chance of Samsung also extending the Kitkat love to some of their older devices. This week, we have a good update to bring you on the status of the missing Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 Kitkat updates.

The good news to start off with, is that Samsung has already showed signs that they are willing to accommodate older devices with a Kitkat update. One example can be seen in a Kitkat update for the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet – although a custom version, it is still based off the official firmware from Samsung.

Now, we hear whispers that Samsung may be planning two massive updates. Specifically, we could be seeing Android 4.4 Kitkat updates for the popular Galaxy S3 and equally popular Galaxy Note 2 as soon as March 2014.

Insider info apparently revealed here suggests that the update will happen during the end of March, so it is something to potentially get excited about. At the same time, we’ve heard plenty of rumors in the past about potential updates that never came to light – so remain cautious on this.

How long will you wait for Kitkat?

It’s good to remember that the Galaxy S3 is by no means an outdated device. Samsung should know this as well and consider the fact that not everyone would have considered the upgrade to the Galaxy S4.

Samsung can do the world of good and increase their reputation further by bringing Android 4.4 Kitkat to everyone in March – let’s hope it happens.

I don’t think SAMSUNG will upgrade Galaxy S3 or S4 to android 4.4. SAMSUNG is busy in New cell phone Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6. there never fixed wifi issue in S4. SAMSUNG is not consumer base company. if you ask them Samsung for help they will tell you buy new phone Galaxy S5 or S6. they are not responsible of their products & its cell phone owner’s problem if phone doesn’t work. I’m not APPLE fan but you have to give them credit that they always busy to solve OS issues. Unfortunate owner of Galaxy S4 with screwed up WIFI issues and Battery issues.

Well there is already a KitKat upgrade out for the S4 – it was leaked not too long ago so it should be making its way to the S4 within a month or so. It hasn’t even been out a year, so it would be ridiculous for them to not upgrade it to 4.4, seeing as the S3 already has an upgrade out for 4.3
