Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.4 Kitkat update patience

By Alan Ng - Jan 26, 2014

With recent news of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 Kitkat update, smartphone fans are optimistic on the chance of Samsung also extending the Kitkat love to some of their older devices. This week, we have a good update to bring you on the status of the missing Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 Kitkat updates.

The good news to start off with, is that Samsung has already showed signs that they are willing to accommodate older devices with a Kitkat update. One example can be seen in a Kitkat update for the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet – although a custom version, it is still based off the official firmware from Samsung.

Now, we hear whispers that Samsung may be planning two massive updates. Specifically, we could be seeing Android 4.4 Kitkat updates for the popular Galaxy S3 and equally popular Galaxy Note 2 as soon as March 2014.

Insider info apparently revealed here suggests that the update will happen during the end of March, so it is something to potentially get excited about. At the same time, we’ve heard plenty of rumors in the past about potential updates that never came to light – so remain cautious on this.

How long will you wait for Kitkat?

It’s good to remember that the Galaxy S3 is by no means an outdated device. Samsung should know this as well and consider the fact that not everyone would have considered the upgrade to the Galaxy S4.

Samsung can do the world of good and increase their reputation further by bringing Android 4.4 Kitkat to everyone in March – let’s hope it happens.
