Bully 2 vs. Red Dead Redemption sequel for 2014 release

By Peter Chubb - Jan 24, 2014

Even though some of you might be losing patience with Rockstar over the whole GTA V Online Heists saga, with some gamers saying they will boycott future games from them, it goes without saying that this anger will be short lived once Heists goes live. But it’s not all about Grand Theft Auto 5, as Rockstar will already be looking ahead to its next big title, but as yet we still do not know what the game will be.

If you were to ask Rockstar fans what they would like to see next from the developer, then we bet most would say Red Dead Redemption 2, just like we would. Most of the evidence does point to a Red Dead sequel, but there are other titles worth considering, one of which would be Bully 2.

Back in November a trademark for Bully Bullworth Academy: Canis Canem Edit was registered, and while we could be reading more into this than there is, it does make you wonder if this is in fact the next big title Rockstar has planned.

Personally, we would much rather a Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement of some sort over the next few months, but for now that’s wishful thinking.

One of the reasons why we do not think that Rockstar will unveil a new game just yet is because they are still working on bringing GTA V to the PC and also the PS4 and Xbox One. There are those of you who believe that Rockstar could unveil a new title at E3 2014, but we have seen over the years that they do not attend the biggest gaming event of the year.

Which of the two titles would you rather see released first, Bully 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2?

It’s not a done deal that either of these titles will be next because there are other games they could revisit, such as L.A. Noire 2, Midnight Club: Los Angeles 2 or Max Payne 4, although that last one is highly unlikey.

  • Edward

Bully 2, This author obviously never played the original. It’s too soon for another Red Dead.

  • Matt

    BULLY 2

  • Yooo

Bully 2 needs to come first definitely

  • BabyBoyLovesTomSelik

i LOVE Both games but i have waited a lot longer for Bully 2 so i would have to say bully but either way im gonna go into a fanboy freak out when both are announced

I’m torn. On the one hand, Red Dead Redemption was one of the greatest games I’ve ever had the opportunity to play. And I would love a sequel. But on the other hand, I don’t see how a sequel could ever live up to Red Dead Redemption. What protagonist could ever top John Marston? To me he was the greatest western hero ever conjured up on screen and I highly doubt they would be able to achieve what they did in Redemption in terms of storytelling without John Marston.

What I’m saying is, as much as I want another Red Dead game, I have a feeling that another sequel would suck. Red Dead isn’t GTA and I don’t think it’ll lend itself to multiple iterations near as well.

Red Dead 2!!!! Though I would really hate if it centered around Jack. I can’t stand him. What I think would be cool is if they made more of a prequel to RDR, centered around a young John, when he was with Dutch’s gang.

  • Sam

I really really really really really want both games, but I want Bully 2 first, then RDR2.

I meant to put “not” in that last sentence. Whoops.

Everyone is looking at this from the wrong perspective. Instead of looking at the games themselves, look at the dev studio behind the games. Red Dead Redemption was developed by Rockstar San Diego. Bully was developed by Rockstar Vancouver. San Diego has not had a big project since 2010s Red Dead Redemption. Yeah they’ve helped in other R* titles! like GTAV, but they haven’t had their own project since 2010. Vancouver, however, made Max Payne 3 in 2012, before merging with Toronto. So for one thing, R* Vancouver doesn’t even exist anymore, and they released a game not even 2 years ago. San Diego hasn’t released a game for almost 4 years, so their the most likely studio to release the next R* game, which would most likely be a new Red Dead game. I’m saying Bully 2 won’t happen, but San Diego is most likely going to get the next release.

Rockstar, give us Bully 2 for pete’s sakes, Red Dead can wait…

    • Stevie

Agreed! I’m all for Red Dead 2, but I’ve been waiting for Bully 2 for years…Read Dead 2 can definitely wait patiently like Bully 2 (If it does happen)

    • Jon Red

      No. Red Dead cannot wait.

  • Dudeimawake

There’s a lot more clues leaning toward bully 2. But you can pretty much count red dead 3 to pop up sooner or later.

  • xRDOx

    Bully s2 and after RDR

  • Ron

    why not both? :/

  • geeteekay

RDR2 will make me buy a new console this year. Bully won’t. I vote RDR2.

    • xRDOx

      Yeah, ok.
But, bully was released at 2001, RDR at 2010, and, Bully is a single game, Red Dead have 2, i choose bully, I even consider RDR the best game from Rockstar, but….. bully

      • xXEchoWolfXx .

        Bully was released in 2006.

  • Sam

I have mostly heard of people wanting RDR2….but personally, i would like to see Bully 2.

  • Ricky

Oh man the thought of Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PS4 makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

  • frank

I can’t wait for RDR2, just wonder what they are waiting on, oh yea GTA V on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
