Microsoft praise Sony’s PS4 despite fierce Xbox One rivalry

Over the last few months Microsoft and Sony have crossed swords since both launching their next generation consoles. Surprisingly however a representative from Microsoft has publicly praised Sony’s PS4, despite the fierce rivalry with the Xbox One.

Phil Spencer who is the corporate vice president at Microsoft Studios, admitted that Sony has “done a nice job with the PS4”. Spencer praised how Sony defined their console during it’s announcement, highlighting how the PS4 has a clear customer focus.

The Microsoft boss also pointed out how Sony is committed to their franchises regardless of success, like with titles such as Heavy Rain. Spencer voiced his admiration for Sony investing in long term projects and creating new intellectual properties. There were also kind words for Nintendo which you can read more about here.

The PlayStation 4 is currently outselling the Xbox One in both speed and the number of units, could these kind words from Microsoft be a form of acknowledgement? Either way it is nice to see one rival praise another in situations like these, it will be interesting to see if Sony come out with some words for Microsoft and the Xbox One.
