2014 Smart ForTwo Electric drive evaluation

While electric vehicles have improved over the past few years, battery technology has not progressed as fast as we would have liked. This is not only the case for companies in the automotive industry, but also for the smartphone and tablet market. We cannot be certain when this next big leap in battery technology will happen, so for now we have to make do with cars that are more suited to short-range, rather than long-distance.

With this in mind it would make sense to have a small electric vehicle because this would not only be a positive for short distances, but also the fact that the range should be impressive as well, although they will have less batteries. One such EV is the 2014 Smart ForTwo Electric, which the company aims to start pushing hard this year.

There has never been a better time to consider an electric vehicle, especially when you consider the price of fuel in the UK.

2014 Smart ForTwo Electric drive

Smart vehicles have always been about fun, and they believe that you can be sensible while having fun with the electric version of the Smart ForTwo.

Looking on the official Smart website, you are offered several reasons why owning the 2014 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive is a good thing, and for the most part they are correct. However, we can understand that some of you would have been put off by the negative reviews regarding electric vehicles in cold conditions.

Some EVs have been known to not charge correctly in cold weather, while we have also learned from several EV owners how the range of their vehicles drop dramatically when the weather falls below a certain temperature.

It is worth noting that these are isolated cases and you should seriously consider an EV, and if you are looking for a small vehicle for the commute, then the 2014 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive is an ideal option.

Absolute incredible little EV. The Smart Electric is finally what the smart wanted to be in the first place. Very quick acceleration leaves cars off a standstill, instant torque encourages confident lane changes. Safety is not an issue because its incredibly advanced with 8 airbags and a high strength aluminum body. The battery pack below enhances rigidity of the car’s structure even more so, making it even safer than its gas sibling. The Smart ED is the safest small car and it is safer than most midsize cars. You just cant go wrong with this car. It has good looks/style,… Read more »
