2014 Audi R8 GT speculative improvements

The 2014 R8 is a nice refresh of the outgoing model, but we were a little shocked to see that the new model lacks a few horses when compared to the outgoing GT model. It’s for this reason why we believe the 2014 Audi R8 GT is inbound and will come with a power increase. There had been several rumors to suggest that this limited edition model was to be cancelled, but some recent spy images seem to dispute that.

Anticipated 2014 Audi R8 GT specs — it very likely that the 2014 GT model will have been on a diet, and so will pack a few less pounds to help with the power-to-weight ratio, along with a reworked engine to help produce around the 600 horsepower range, rather than the current 560 horsepower.

Because the new 2014 Audi R8 GT will be more powerful, it’s obvious that larger brakes will be needed, so expect to see larger brake calipers and cross-drilled ceramic rotors. That’s not all, there looks to be a few changes to the exterior, such as a fixed rear wing to help improve stability, fascia winglets and finally a new chin spoiler to help improve aerodynamic efficiency.

To help complete the improved handling of the upcoming R8 GT, it will make use of Audi’s Quattro AWD system. According to Autoblog the 2014 Audi R8 GT will have a limited run of just 333 units, which should help make the new model even more desirable.

The price of the new R8 GT will be a bit on the expensive side when compared to a GTR, but that would be like driving a laptop rather than a car you can feel and drive in a manner that you want. Overall, the 2014 Audi R8 GT does look to have some significant improvements, if the real deal of course, although not too certain on that huge rear wing?
