2014 Apple TV update anguish, 2015 more likely

Apple’s one-time hobby has now become a viable part of its business, so how come we have been left waiting for a major revamp of Apple TV? This is the question that most current owners wish to know, and it would seem that things are not going as easily as the company had hoped, and therefore there could be more delays.

We had assumed that a 2014 Apple TV update would happen during the iPad event, but it looks as though this is as likely as seeing the iWatch this year. There is no denying how much consumers are eager for the Apple TV 4th generation update, it’s just they may have to wait until 2015 instead.

It’s now been almost two and a half years since the 3rd-gen model was released, but it did receive a minor update in January 2013, although there was no difference to its performance, features or design.

In a recent report from The Information, Apple employees in charge of the project have contacted Apple TV engineers that they do not expect all the pieces to be in place with cable companies by the end of this year. This might be good news for the engineers because it gives them more time to perfect the changes, but the consumer will not be happy, as that will mean it would be almost 3 years since the release of the current Apple TV model.

There is a lot riding on the next version of Apple TV, as a redesign is expected, as well as improved control, along with Siri to make the user experience even better. However, it is gaming that is needed the most, as the Amazon Fire TV has now started to eat into Apple’s market share in the set-top box market.
