Minecraft Wii U release date in 2014 a mystery

By Alan Ng - Dec 30, 2013

While fans patiently await the glorious Minecraft release date on PS4 and Xbox One, there are whispers emerging that a Minecraft Edition for Wii U is also in the works for 2014. However, these whispers are certainly conflicting, leaving fans no closer to actually knowing if the game is on the way.

If you have a Wii U, you have probably heard the rumors about a Wii U Minecraft release date happening sometime during Summer 2014, along with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

That was a few weeks ago, but now it seems the mood has abruptly changed. Minecraft creator Notch has sent out some home truths on the rumors, recently stating on Twitter that he isn’t aware of any Wii U version of Minecraft being in development.

You can see his Tweet in question here:

He went on to say that part of the reason for this, is that the team is simply too busy with existing projects – keen to make a point that there wasn’t any behind the scenes issues with Nintendo.

This is contrary to earlier rumors that were spread via this report. Either way, we would all love to see Minecraft playable off-screen on the Wii U Gamepad.

I think it would be great to have minecraft on wiiu. I think what should of happened is as soon as the creators found out about the wiiu the should of said minecraft. that’s the first thing that poped up into my head. I also look at everything and everyone who has minecraft, then I look at wiiu and say why is there no minecraft. and after the time minecraft has ben out for everything I think its still really popular. also look at the rainbow loom it isn’t very popular anymore. minecraft I still used 24/7.
