Alternative 2015 Ford Mustang engine options debated

By Peter Chubb - Dec 9, 2013

Attitudes towards the cars that people drive in the US are changing because it’s not all about horsepower and brut force, not even for muscle cars. Take the 2015 Ford Mustang, this car has been anticipated for a while now and so was its EcoBoost engine.

Drivers loved the idea of having a new Mustang, but also having an energy efficient model as well. However, Ford know that this is not enough and need to go further in order to secure the Mustang’s future.

It is for this very reason why there are now discussions going on in regard to alternative engine options for the 2015 Ford Mustang. The thought of the four-cylinder turbocharged engine is not going to offer the sort of choice drivers look for these days, and so new options are needed.

According to Autoblog, Ford is considering using a diesel, hybrid or even an electric powertrain for the all-new Mustang, but it is clear opinion will be divided.

In the news report a poll has been created asking if it is wise Ford should consider more economical engines for the Mustang, and the results are varied.

More than 24 percent would rather stick to the V8 and 24 percent believe the EcoBoost engine is good enough. However, just over 19 percent would be happy with a diesel powertrain and 16 percent for an electric version. The thought of a Ford Mustang Hybrid does not appeal to many drivers in the US, and so we will just have to wait and see what Ford has planned for the future.
