Evan Spiegel’s Snapchat shares bigger than Facebook

Have you become aware of the popularity of growing social app Snapchat yet? If you haven’t heard about it, you probably will hear about it a lot this week – notably due to the fact that Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has reportedly rejected a $1 billion offer from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg who wants Snapchat on his books.

You may be thinking that this is slightly crazy, but then again Snapchat is picking up speed in the social game and consumers are now starting to see the potential of the app.

To perhaps justify Spiegel’s decision to reject the $1 billion offer, it has been also been revealed recently that the daily photo shares on Snapchat have now surpassed that of Facebook’s. If you thought Instagram was a popular app, figures over at DigitalTrends indicate that Snapchat is still head and shoulders above the competition – with figures rising by the day.

400 million Snapchat shares a day is an incredible feat, while Facebook daily shares are thought to be around the 350 million mark. If you think about that for a moment, do you now see why Spiegel could have an app on his hands that is worth well more than $1 billion?

How often do you use Snapchat? Are you someone who will often send photos to all your friends and family each day, or have you still not heard about the app whatsoever?
