After hearing about a confirmed 2014 PS4 release date for Japan, we feared the same thing would happen for other neighboring countries in Asia. Fortunately, we have heard that this won’t be the case as Sony has confirmed that PS4 will still launch in 2013 in some Asia regions.
In what is likely to be deemed as further disappointment for Sony’s home country of Japan, it has now been confirmed that PS4 will be available for Hong Kong gamers in December 2013. No set release date has been revealed yet, but Sony confirmed earlier this week during the TGS that it would definitely be available before the end of the year.
Aside from Hong Kong, we can also tell you that PS4 will have a December 2013 launch in Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea. It means that despite Sony being a Japanese company, they will be holding off from releasing the PS4 in their own territory until February 2014 – obviously prioritizing other regions before their own.
There’s no word on pricing or release date for those looking to buy from Hong Kong, but hopefully this information will become available at the end of Tokyo Game Show 2013 – we do know the launch will happen in the middle of December.
Sony has just wrapped up their press conference on stage, whilst at the moment Capcom are doing the honors with the highly anticipated live gameplay demonstration of PS4 exclusive Deep Down.
We thought that the PS4 would not see a release in HK and other Asia regions until 2014 along with Japan, so consider us pleasantly surprised. Will you be buying a console from Asia? Give us your reaction to the news.
