PS4 Vs Xbox One with Jack Tretton boast

By Alan Ng - Sep 12, 2013

Earlier this week we told you about some interesting comments from Microsoft’s director of product planning in relation to advantages that the Xbox One has over the PS4. Now, in almost perfect timing, Sony’s Jack Tretton has chimed in with his own PS4 hype claims, providing three reasons why Sony’s console is better than the Xbox One.

If you have been keeping up to date with the next-gen console hype train, you’ll know that Sony has been marketing their console under the basis that their hardware is more powerful than the Xbox One on paper. Fans have moved on board with this as well, which is why you’ll Microsoft execs like Albert Penello attempt to defend the Xbox One with some hardware facts of their own as highlighted above.

Sony appears to be very confident though. The popular Jack Tretton has given an interview with Fox News, again stating in the purest terms that ‘they have the most powerful console on the market’.

He also reminds everyone that the PS4 is ‘$100 cheaper than the Xbox One’ and talks about having the most ‘diverse exclusive lineup’ on the PS4 compared to Xbox One – which is obviously debatable since Microsoft has many exclusives like Titanfall, Ryse and Dead Rising on their books already, with many more to come next year.

Tretton is obviously going to say good things about the PS4, but is he accurate to say that the PS4 hardware is more powerful than the Xbox One – especially with Microsoft’s counter-attack earlier this week. Nobody can argue with the price difference aspect, but time will tell to see if Sony can really produce on the PS4 exclusives front.

Only words and paper state that the ps4 is more powerful. No physical proof has been offered for either so this debate can very well last the entire generation like last and the time before that. Smoke and mirrors as usual.

  • I don’t recall hearing whether the XOne has a completely separate processor to handle the OS like the PS4 does.
That ALONE would give the PS4 a serious advantage. Its main processors can just focus on the games, while the secondary processor takes care of the OS and ‘share button’ recording off to the side.

  • It is clear that the PS4 is more powerful. Do I care that my PS4 doesn’t ship with the PSEye? No. I don’t want to pay extra for a gimmick that will rarely be used. Do I care about watching TV through my Console? No. Why should I? When I watch TV, I watch TV. Who do you think the developers are going to make games for? The company that has an overwhelming lead in regards to sales…or the weaker, less popular console. This is not rocket science. This will be the time of the PS4 to shine. It is their race to lose and Microsoft has basically shoved them into the lead. At this point, Microsoft should just issue an apology letter to their fans for screwing them over, ignoring them, and being so cocky that they just expected their fans to roll over and accept second best.

Xbox can just go scrap itself as it’s not even in the same league as the PS4. The Xbox is pretty much 10 years behind

    • Prothean

ha 10 years behind? yeah ok… Voice control is the future, Xbox and Microsoft have a hold on it. Go enjoy your PS3.5.

PS controllers are uncomfortable to hold. Need more ergonomic design.

    • LupineMP3j

Enter DualShock 4. You do know they redesigned it, right? So far, as far as I have seen, no one who has gotten the chance to use one has had any complaints.

i can’t stand the xbox controller, infact thats solely why i bought a ps3.
In short, your opinion is not the opinion of everyone.
