Fallout 4 no-show at E3 2013 whispers

By Alan Ng - May 10, 2013

We have some potentially disappointing news to bring you now, especially for the millions of gamers who are dying to see a Fallout 4 announcement this Summer. Bethesda has just announced a new Wolfenstein game this week of course, but we now hear that Fallout 4 may not be ready to show next month at all.

It is no secret that Fallout 4 rumors and hype have skyrocketed in the last few weeks, especially with the confirmation that Bethesda has officially ceased development on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. After the unveiling of The Evil Within by the publisher, many gamers had expected Fallout 4 to be next in line for the reveal treatment.

Instead though, Wolfenstein: The New Order is now on the way from Machine Games, leaving some to wonder whether Fallout 4 really is going to be ready for a 2013, or even early 2014 release. With that in mind, NoobFeed are claiming that Bethesda won’t be showing Fallout 4 at this year’s E3 2013 event.

They have apparently obtained a schedule of Bethesda’s participation at the event, revealing that only The Evil Within, Wolfenstein and The Elder Scrolls Online will be shown. They have also mentioned that out of these games, Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Elder Scrolls Online will be playable – suggesting that The Evil Within from Tango GameWorks isn’t ready in playable format just yet.

If this is indeed true, then should it considered a big blow that Fallout 4 won’t be at E3? Having said that, this could just be information related to Bethesda’s booth on the show floor, with all actual press conference appearances still a secret at this point. We still could see a Gabe Newell-style appearance from Bethesda at either Sony or Microsoft’s keynote, so we don’t think all Fallout 4 hope is lost just yet.

How bad do you want to see the game announced at E3? Are you happy to wait longer now, or does an announcement need to come this Summer to maintain your interest?

This whole thing camer from a listing of games that Bethesda Softworks is showing at E3. I tell you now that developers/publishers almost never put unnanounced games on those pre-E3 lists, but that hasn’t stopped tons of new games from being announced at E3 over the years. The Fallout 4 reveal may come sooner than some think. Back at PAX in March, Inon Zur, the composer of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, had a panel, and during it he announced that the next game he is working on would be unveiled on May 15. This is just a week before the Next Xbox unveiling, and Microsoft has previously bought the timed DLC exclusivity rights to Skyrim and is likely to for Fallout 4 as well. We may very well see a teaser trailer with no gameplay on the 15th (similar to the first Skyrim teaser shown at the 2010 VGA’s), followed by short gameplay trailer at the Next Xbox unveil on the 21st (similar to the first Skyrim gameplay trailer shown in February 2011), followed by a gameplay demo at E3 (similar to the Skyrim gameplay demo shown during E3 2011). Some people don’t think that Bethesda’s next game is far along, but it actually entered preproduction in 2010 (as revealed by Todd Howard in a 2010 interview) and has likely had a small team working on it since at least Skyrim’s release, if not earlier, as well as the majority of the team since November (when the last Skyrim DLC was finished).

Thank You! That’s what I’ve been saying why would they say they’re going to announce fallout 4? They want to keep it as secret as possible with no chance of a leak so this story means nothing!!

Fear not, they’re working on #4. It’ll debut near the end of this year. I’m sure they’ll have some sneak peeks but they haven’t given any signs is all.
