PS4 excitement prolonged with PS3 Legacy bundle

Sony may be planning to launch their next-generation PS4 console during the 2013 Holiday season in the US, but this week we have yet another example to show you that the PS3 is far from dead and buried. Sony will soon be releasing the PS3 Legacy console bundle, which will offer a new console package that comes with two games and PS Plus membership.

While most may think that Sony are slightly overdoing it now on their constant PS3 SKU refreshes, others may find this latest one the most desirable yet. The Legacy bundle is launching in US retailers this week and will cost $300 to buy – the same price that the recent Assassin’s Creed 3 bundle was available for.

For that rather steep price though, you’ll get near-unlimited storage with a 500GB Super Slim PS3 console. On top you’ll get a copy of Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition, inFAMOUS 2 and a 30-day subscription to Sony’s very popular PS Plus service, which offers free games as long as your subscription is valid.

While the inclusion of inFAMOUS 2 may be questionable as a bundle seller, GT5 XL Edition is a lot more luxurious. It comes with the latest version of the game after all the post-release updates, as well as $20 worth of bonus cars and tracks – basically all of the DLC released so far.

An asking price of $300 is still a bitter pill to swallow, being so close to the PS4 release, which consumers are expecting to pay no more than $400 for anyway. $250 or even $200 would have been more suited to this bundle, but we have a feeling that some may still be tempted by this.

Are you one of these people on the hunt for a Super Slim, or are you waiting for PS4 now?
