There is no doubt in my mind that when the 7th generation iPhone arrives in 2013 at some point, it will be a release that feels very different for someone that has purchased every generation. The Apple iPhone 6, or 5S, will need to bring the goods and deliver with some killer specs this time around or it will be the first generation missed after getting bored with too many minor changes each generation.
It is understandable why some Apple fans miss generations, which can be due to the length of a phone contract or thanks to them being much more wise than I have been over the years.
New iPhone 6 with bigger screen – this is a headline that has been flying around for many months and even within the last week we have seen major brands reporting the same thing. From the likes of Forbes to The Financial Post, you’ll find reporters telling their readers that a new iPhone 6 is coming and its features will include a bigger display.
If the iPhone 6 features a new size screen, how big should it be? This is certainly the dilemma Apple face considering they have a massive loyal following with mixed features on their wishlist. Some people want the iPhone 6 to launch with roughly the same size screen, while others think it is time for a change and the smartphone industry has changed at a faster pace than Apple has with each iPhone update.
Personally, we would like to see two iPhone 6 screen sizes. One phone at around 4-inches, like the current iPhone 5 display, and another at 5.5-inches with a flexible display wrapping around the edges for touch controls on the side.
This is just an idea for something different, but the option of two screen sizes for iPhone 6 is crucial if Apple want to offer something for phablet and phone buyers.
Apple iPhone 6 release date in 2014 – when we get closer to the launch of the next iPhone it always arrives with drops of information months before, which is what you will be seeing right now if you can pick out the more solid rumors from a mountain of information.
Recently we noted that the iPhone 6 and 5S might play a part in Apple’s overall plan for 2013 and 2014, which could start with the first generation iPhone being made redundant on June 11 and then pre-orders starting for iPhone 5S on June 20. This had been detailed by a couple of leaked documents.
We also noted over the weekend that insiders point to Apple changing from Samsung to TSMC for application processors, which could start in time for an iPhone 6 launching in 2014. The above rumours point to an iPhone 5S launching during WWDC 2013 and an iPhone 6 next year, although screen sizes were not hinted at within these leaks.
How big should the next iPhone screen size go, and if Apple delivers more than one size screen what sizes would you like to see?
