What was rumored to be the Galaxy Note 3 has turned out to be the Samsung Galaxy Mega, which is a low-cost version and comes in a choice of two screen sizes, 5.8-inch and 6.3 inch. The new device is destined for various markets in the world, although there is no news as to when the US will see its release.
The budget Galaxy Note 3 as we would like to call it looks set to do very well in certain markets, because of it being a little cheaper than you would expect to pay, although there is still a premium to pay when you consider this is the largest smartphone you will be able to get in Europe and other parts of the world – for now anyway.
As you would imagine there has been a great deal of media attention for this device, because of the reason we mentioned above. Before we look at these apparent Samsung Galaxy Mega visual reviews we have seen on YouTube so far, we thought we would offer a recap on the main specs for those who do not know yet.
First up is a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, which is nothing like we expect to see with the Note 3, then there is 1.5GB of RAM, again not as much as we would expect from such a device, although this is to be expected with a low-cost phablet. There’s also an 8-megapixel camera to the rear and a 1-megapixel on the front. You have the choice of 8GB and 16GB of internal storage, which seems limited, although you can extend this up to another 64GB with microSD storage. Finally, there’s a 3200 mAh battery, which should be more than enough to keep the device in power all day.
These videos are very early reviews, and only give us an idea of what to expect, but the full visual reviews should not be that far behind. The first video below goes through all the new features, although it’s very limited in what we get to learn. Next up is another so-called reviews, but all the video offers is a selection of images, with no dialogue at all. Let’s hope that some real reviews begin to show up on YouTube soon, as we’d love to know how the Samsung Galaxy mega compares to the Note 2.
The Galaxy Mega is set to be released in May in Europe and Russia.
