EA and DICE are continuing to tease the upcoming reveal of Battlefield 4, which will take place very soon indeed on March 26. After the unveiling of the official BF4 website earlier this week, EA has now released two videos which show off a very brief tease of gameplay with specific reference to land and possibly sea combat as well.
We already know that Battlefield 4 has been confirmed for at least the Sony PS4 and also PC platforms. The game will obviously land on Microsoft’s next Xbox system as well when it is announced, but two pieces of information that we don’t know yet is whether Battlefield 4 will be out before the end of the year, and if the Wii U will be getting a version as well.
With that in mind, there are going to be a lot of questions that need answering on EA’s upcoming event. To prepare for the big occasion, EA and DICE have teased the next level of tank gameplay within Battlefield 4, but also teased the thought on taking the battle across the seas.
Sea combat wasn’t available in Battlefield 3, so it will be interesting to see whether DICE has made big changes to make this possible in Battlefield 4. Imagine being able to stay out at sea for the entire duration of a map, with the ability to command battle ships and submarines with their own set of weaponry to use.
It would shake up the gameplay in a massive way and there’s no denying that console hardware wouldn’t be able to handle it now – 8GB of RAM on the PS4 tells us that a lot more is possible this time around – not just 64 player support. In Battlefield 3 we had speed boats, but they were generally used to get to point A to B and not really for combat purposes.
What would be your initial thoughts and ideas on sea combat in Battlefield 4 – how would it work? Would you like to see it, or should DICE just stick to expanding on the land and air combat as seen in BF3?
