We have some interesting news to share with you now, with regards to the highly sought after release date for the Sony PS4 and Microsoft’s next Xbox console. Sony has only said that the PS4 will be released during the ‘2013 Holiday’ period, but now we may have pinpointed a more accurate release for you thanks to a developer working on Assassin’s Creed 4.
As we await Microsoft’s next Xbox event in the coming months, all eyes are still on the PS4 and when we are going to have the chance to see the actual hardware since it was missing in February. Assassin’s Creed 4 is already a game that has been confirmed for release on the PS4 and if you still do not know it, the release date for that game is October 31st.
Jean Guesdon is the creative director for ACIV and he has told OXM that all versions of Assassin’s Creed 4 will be shipping at the same time with no delays in between platforms. You can watch the video interview above and specifically at the 5:42 mark when he reveals the potentially massive bombshell by saying ‘same ship’.
If he is including the next-gen versions releasing at the same time, then it tells us that the PS4 and next Xbox console will be out before November, so it could be earlier in October or in the PS4’s case specifically – on October 31 to make Assassin’s Creed 4 a PS4 launch title.
That is exciting to say the least if this is true, but there may be a few problems that need discussing first. What does this mean on the rumors suggesting that the PS4 won’t be out in Europe in 2013? That would make Assassin’s Creed 4 a 2014 release for Europe territories, which would obviously be a massive blow.
Do you have your money ready for a potential next-gen sales war in October? E3 2013 is going to hold all the answers, so we can’t wait for June to arrive.
