Droid RAZR Jelly Bean 4.1 update with Verizon changelog

It looks like it is going to be a very happy weekend indeed for Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners on Verizon Wireless. We can confirm that the highly anticipated official update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is now starting to roll out. The process will be happening in phases, but as you wait for the update to land on your device, Verizon has just gone live with their official changelog notes.

As expected, the Jelly Bean update will add major new functionality to your Droid RAZR or RAZR MAXX. Verizon’s changelog mentions that the new software will update your phone to Android 4.1, but you’ll be pleased to hear that it is actually Android 4.1.2 on offer here.

If you haven’t received an OTA notification yet, you should head into your device settings and see if a manual software available is available for download. If not, just hold on and be patient as the rollout process can often take 1-2 weeks depending on where you are located.

New features waiting for you include Google Now, Voice Search, Smart Keyboard with Gesture Typing, enhanced notifications and also an improvement to network connectivity. Verizon has said that the update process will take around 10-20 minutes to complete and the download size will be 338.8MB total.

With that in mind, it is a good idea to connect to a WiFi connection first to avoid any potential issues when using 3G. It has taken a long time to arrive, but it’s great to see that the Jelly Bean update bandwagon is still going strong amid reports that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is nearing a release.

The question is, are you now rocking official Jelly Bean on your Droid RAZR or RAZR MAXX? Let us know if you have received the notification or not.
