If we were to go back several years the likes of the UK had to wait for the release of a new handset, while the US got to enjoy it for a few months before hand. However, times have changed and it’s nice to know that the new BlackBerry Z10 will be released in the UK tomorrow, while those across the pond will have to wait until March, although some would say that those in the UK are being used as Guinea Pigs to iron out any flaws before it hits the larger market. There is to be a white version for all UK carriers, but a Verizon exclusive in the US.
Going back to the handset itself, this is going to be make or break for RIM (sorry BlackBerry now) because the new range of BB10 devices really need to prove that they have what it takes to compete with rival products because the Canadian phone maker has not had the kind if success that they were used to in years. We’ll no doubt be looking at the Z10 and see how this new all-important model compares to other smartphones, as well as the other range of BB10 devices.
A recent BlackBerry Z10 review of battery life and performance proved very interesting because it looks at how well the battery performs when compared to the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3. Firstly though a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and a massive 2GB of RAM power the Z10, which some would suggest is 6 months out of date – although we’ll let you decide.
As for battery life the Z10 was able to play eight hours and 11 minutes of video footage on a loop at a fixed brightness. The Samsung Galaxy S3 managed an hour more and the iPhone 5 three hours more. While there is far more to the Z10 than just battery and a small performance test, it is not a good start.
