Big screen phones to feature at CES 2013

Most tech enthusiasts are looking towards CES 2013 right now to see what trends might appear, and you might have already noticed that large smartphones are likely to be featured heavily from a number of brands. These big screen phones, better known as phablets, are great for users that want to carry one device that acts as a tablet and smartphone.

This saves the user money overall and will allow you to do a lot more with a large smartphone, although the main drawback is carrying a really big device around as your phone. If you perform other tasks more than making phone calls, like browsing the web and using apps, then it seems like a no-brainer for these people.

There will be a number of big screen phones at CES 2013, which includes a 6.1-inch screen on the Ascend Mate from Huawei. ZTE and LG will showcase 5-inch devices, although a number of analysts believe there will be some massive smartphones that will be stupidly big.

We’ve also heard rumors about Apple launching multiple screen sizes and colors for their next iPhone, which we find really hard to believe in 2013. If the success of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 continues with even more growth when the next-gen Note 3 arrives, then we could see Apple finding it hard to resist launching a bigger smartphone at some point in the future.

This brings us to the question: what would be too big as a smartphone? The 6.1-inch screen on the Huawei Ascend Mate would be too much for some people, but could we see any bigger phones?

When it comes to big screen phones, what size is too awkward to hold in your opinion? We’ll update you during CES 2013 with all the latest news on phablets, so keep connected to our social channels for the latest updates.
