2013 Ford Focus ST review, finally in Canada

For several years if you wanted a hot-hatch one of the best examples was the Ford Focus RS, but if you lived in Canada then you had to make do with the hi-po version. While this was a decent example of the car, it seemed to lack in some of those key areas that make a hot-hatch what it is. Thankfully, because Ford now have a new policy allowing for the same model to be released in most parts of the world, it’s finally nice to see the 2013 Ford Focus ST in Canada, and is the same variant driven by consumers in the US, UK and other parts of Europe.

We’ve already looked at several 2013 Ford Focus ST reviews, so it’s nice to get a different perspective from a county that looks at cars in a completely different way to those in the UK. The reviewer makes a point that this is a sports car that is front-wheel drive, which is something we have come to expect from a hot-hatch. This does come with positives and negatives, most of which we already know.

In this latest 2013 Ford Focus ST review it’s obvious that the reviewer will be looking to the likes of the Golf GTI and the Mazdaspeed3 for comparisons, just as we did back in May. However, they point out that Ford do not follow the sheep, and likes to do things their own way, which is one of the many reasons why the new Focus ST is able to stand out in the crowd.

What we do find strange about the Canadian review of the 2013 Ford Focus ST is how they mentioned that this model lacks the power of the Ford Mustang. It seems weird to say this when they are completely different cars, even if the same company manufactures them.

If you are looking for a hot-hatch with a lot of horsepower, than maybe you might want to consider the competition, as the 2013 Ford Focus ST is lacking compared to its rivals, just as the Fiesta ST does compared to the 208 and the Clio, although the Ford variants are more fun to drive.
