Black Ops 2 PS3 patch 1.04 live, details so far

We’ve just checked Black Ops 2 on the PS3 and found patch 1.04 for download, which seems to have gone live only moments ago. The details about this Black Ops 2 PS3 update are sketchy with full 1.04 patch notes expected within the next 24 hours. It is hoped by a large number of gamers that this latest update fixes the crashing and freezing problems PS3 players are experiencing, although it is fair that not all gamers report the same severity of issues.

Over the last couple of days Black Ops 2 players on the PS3 have been increasingly frustrated at certain problems, and this resulted in increasing posts in official forums asking when patch 1.04 would release for the PS3, which we already knew had been in development. This led to the Twitter account for Activision Support posting a short tweet about the next Black Ops 2 patch, which you can see in the image below. This basically explained that the 1.04 patch would go live on PS3 in the US at 11PM PST, which would mean a global rollout to the UK and other countries would progress after this time. We can confirm that the UK has now received this latest update.

The tweet explains that the Xbox 360 will receive its next title update this weekend, and patch notes about what has changed will arrive in due course. Our PS3 Super Slim had no crashing problems although the older model we have did experience hard resets after freezing, which we’ve played for around 30 minutes since Black Ops 2 patch 1.04 without any issues, so fingers crossed this finally fixes the problem for everyone.

    so what this patch did nothing for the freezing? I am wondering if i should try to reload it again on my ps3 or is it just gonna be a wasts of time… my ps3 was dealing with issues from the game disc read errors freezing and so on..had to restore system wiped every thign off…what do i do…did this fix the FREEZING ISSUE?

    I think I figured it out.If you’re on an older system,let’s say pre-unhackable Slim and pre-SuperSlim,your system will be prone to overheating issues.This leads to
    repeated shut downs and system rebuilds.Eventually the end result is
    YLOD…and then you’re done…or the same process kills your bluray.This is why the last ‘fix’ was for the connectivity issue…and the 1.04 update was for weapons tweaks mainly. NOT THE OVERHEAT ISSUE.Don’t expect one either.

    So…here’s my solution…I’ve been running my ps3 on its side.Its sitting on
    a stand…and I have a big fan blowing directly on it.I did this to
    test my idea…and I’ve now been playing online,both Multiplayer and Zombie for over an hour now.I tried it without the house fan and the freezing started again.I let my PS3 cool down,hooked up the fan…and now I can play as long as I want.

    Save your system…and try this.I hope this works for you…!!!

    – LOL these guys are clueless or plain lying, everyone I know had this problem. By the looks of some of the comments already, I’m still not going to stick that stupid game in my PS3.

    can someone please tell me if you are experiencing the same problem: Right after i updated the latest patch 1.04, for some reason when i went on my multiplayer (i am currently lvl 55) and i lost all my unlock tokens, all my unlocks have now been locked except the guns, all my scorestreaks and wild cards have been locked??? someone please help!!!

    Features & Feature Improvements

    Added support for posting Live Stream URLs to Twitter.

    Improved audio/rumble responsiveness when hitting enemies with gunfire.

    Improved overall communication of Double XP when enabled.

    AAR better communicates how much XP was earned in each match.

    Added the ability to “View League Teams” from any player’s Playercard.

    Added the ability to “View Playercard” from League solo leaderboards.

    Added a number of security system enhancements.


    Fixed a rare hang (“Awaiting Textures”) upon loading into maps when joining
    a session in progress after fresh boot.

    Game now resets the Care Package for a non-owner if the owner re-rolls the
    package using the Engineer perk.

    Gameplay Balancing

    thorough review of statistical data from usage patterns of weapons, equipment,
    perks and scorestreaks since

    UAV: cost increased from 350 to 425.

    Lightning Strike: added 750ms delay


    Bouncing Betty: increased the grace period between trigger and activation by

    Sensor Grenade: increased the range (now 1000 units), frequency (now 800ms
    between pings), and amount of time (now 6s) that players appear after explosion.

    Concussion Grenade: decreased movement penalty and turn speed penalty when


    All: increased hip fire recoil.

    All: increased max hip fire spread from 4.75 to 5.

    All: reduced bullet penetration.

    MSMC: increased recoil slightly.

    PDW-57: increased recoil slightly.

    Assault rifles:

    All: reduced idle sway for more reliable long-range aiming.

    XM8: reduced lethal range of 3-hit kills from 250 to 50 inches.

    Just updated and it is now not allowing me to sign in to the playstation network. With this error 8002a548. I read their website, and it looks like that error is supposed to be a wifi problem. But I’m directly connected and my internet is working because I’m on this website. Black ops 2 is so glitchy. I’m so close to returning it.

      all it caused is for my fatboy ps3 to freeze twice as much as before. good game, too bad its broken
