Nexus 4, 10 sold out with deliveries expected next year

By Chris Cook - Nov 20, 2012

You could look at the fact that the Google Nexus 4 sold out so fast thanks to its popularity, but then how much demand could Google and LG handle in the first place, especially considering the messages from those that were lucky enough to pre-order a Nexus 4 and still haven’t received the handset yet. You can read about a few claims being made with both the Nexus 4 and 10 being late for delivery here, although we know that these shipping problems are not affecting the majority of early adopters.

Nexus 4, 10 still sold out – if you look at the official Google play store you’ll notice that both the new smartphone and 10-inch tablet are still sold out, although there’s no real clarity as to when more stock is expected for the online store. We’ve heard a few rumors claiming that the Nexus 4 will stay sold out for another 3 weeks, but if this is the case it seems that by the time stock arrives you might not see the handset delivered until the start of 2013, which would be due to the Christmas rush and difficulties getting items delivered so close to the holidays.

If we do see Nexus 4 stock return to the Google play store it will sell out fast again, so you’d need to be ready the moment the Nexus 4 appears online for sale. The initial offering sold out within a matter of minutes, and had also been plagued by problems thanks to the massive demand.

Are you after the LG Nexus 4, and if so how do you plan to get one? We’d also love to know your thoughts on the difficulties with stock and how you’d feel if the new Nexus didn’t arrive with you until the start of next year? You might want to read about an LTE secret housed within the Nexus 4 in our earlier article. The price has also been a lot better directly with Google, which is another reason a lot of people want to order from Google play rather than certain local retailers.

I’ve sold my old phone to await the Nexus 4 stock but I’m stuck if they’re not getting any till ’13!!

I had a similar problem with the google play store while attempting to order the Nexus 7, I will NOT purchase any products from the Play store until google gets their act together.

Getting the Nexus 4 was insane. I had 3 browsers open. Chrome, Firefox and IE. I probably ordered both the 8GB and 16GB version 50 times. I never got to the final confirmation page. When the fun was over I was lucky enough to land not one but 2 phones but not without a fight with technology for technology. This phone is awesome…well worth the trouble and at a price that mocks the competition.

I got mine through carphone warehouse no waiting and OK its a 24 month contract but if you take the call plan being £15.50 and phone £290 (inc p&p) from Google then only really about £115 extra and saved me using my credit card which I would not have paid off in a month so would have interest added.

Best check the Play store right now, allows you to order Nexus 10 and promises 2-3 week delivery. Just ordered one:-)

Haha I got my nexus 4! Muhahaha!

  • Who is your source? The Nexus 10 is back in stock today with shipping in two to three weeks.

I was originally meant to get it for my uncle because he lives in Malaysia. But it sold out here in the UK so darn fast! Going to have to wait till it comes back in stock to get it. When is it going to be in stock is the question. At least an estimated date would be nice. I’m having to check the Play Store almost daily.

Sitting in India, trying to get Nexus 4 through a canadian relative………nothing is happening

In Canada, Play store now shows Nexus 10 as shipping in 2-3 weeks, but in US the 16GB version became available couple of days ago, and now the 32GB version shows in stock. So if you order Nexus 10 now in US, I would imagine that you should get it in max couple of days. And also, even though Nexus 10 also sold out in couple of hours, it’s managing to stay in stock for now.

Filed a Better Business Bureau complaint over the backorder issue. They misrepresented their shipping date.

i would have done the same thing.

Wish Google would keep us up to date on when they expect new shipment. I was waiting to get Nexus 4, but now it looks like I may get a different phone.

    • Good things come to those who wait. The Nexus 4 is definitely worth your patience.

  • Ordered the 10 on release day for the wife. Got the shipment notification 48 hours later and received the table the same day. She loves it and I’m a hero. That is all.

Lucky! I ordered within ten minutes of it going live. Still no shipping confirmation. No delivery. No real response from Google except “It will definitely be shipped by the end of the day” every day since Wednesday.
