It looks like the season pass incentive for video games is going to be a much more mainstream feature for the gaming industry than ever before. We have seen passes for the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield with the respective Elite and Premium programs, but now it looks like Ubisoft has similar plans in place for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed 3 game.
To refresh your memory, the season pass hasn’t really been utilized with Assassin’s Creed games in the past, with Ubisoft preferring to offer post-release DLC with various pre-order incentives with retailers, as seen with Brotherhood and Revelations.
This time around though, it looks like Assassin’s Creed 3 has plenty of DLC in store and the best way to get hold of it all in one swoop is to pick up a season pass. Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed this officially yet, but a letter to GameStop picked up by Kotaku surely confirms that it is definitely on the way.
$50 also seems to be the standard marker now for how much gamers are looking at if they want to invest their money into the game for future content. There seems to be a lot of happy Battlefield 3 Premium owners who can’t wait for the next expansion to land and considering the amount of positive interest shown in Assassin’s Creed 3 so far, we have a feeling that Ubisoft will win over fans as well.
Just what sort of content will you be happy paying another $50 or so for though? It works with shooters as gamers generally know what they are getting with a new assortment of maps. With a season pass for Assassin’s Creed 3 though, you may feel that $50 could be slightly too much for just a couple of extra missions to play around with.
