In possibly the biggest shock during E3 week, Namco Bandai has announced a partnership with the most unlikely individual for their upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 brawler. It’s been confirmed that rapper Snoop Dogg will feature in the game, with one track from him being made especially for the game.
Before you ask, no he isn’t going to be a playable character thank God as that would have been a bit ridiculous and not what Tekken veterans want to see. He is going to have his own stage though, as fighters will see Snoop Dogg in the background cheering on the action, complete with two scantily clad ladies accompanying him.
Aside from his own personal stage in the game, Snoop Dogg will also be providing an original track to the game called “Knocc ‘Em Down”. It has been recorded especially for Tekken Tag 2 according to the ‘Doggfather’ and it now means players have the option of listening to some rap music whilst taking on the best that Tekken Tag 2 has to offer online.
If this is right up your street, you’ll need to know that you can only take advantage of these features by pre-ordering the game through GameStop. A GameStop pre-order will get you the Snoop Dogg stage, his track and also four extra characters in Kunimitsu, Ancient Ogre, Michelle Chang and Angel.
The game will be out September 11 in the US and September 14 in the UK. What do you make of this Snoop Dogg partnership – a sad state of affairs for the industry, or great that a celebrity as big as Snoop Dogg is putting his weight behind the upcoming game?
