Assassin’s Creed 3 on Wii U could be best version

By Alan Ng - Mar 6, 2012

We told you that Assassin’s Creed 3 was due to be unveiled by Ubisoft very soon and we’re pleased to say that the game has finally been given its world premiere. The first teaser trailer has now been revealed, as well as one big surprise that you may not have been expecting to see.

As expected, Assassin’s Creed 3 is being developed for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC but Ubisoft has confirmed the surprising news that the game will also be coming to Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console as well. A date of October 31 2012 has been set in place for the console and PC versions, but it remains to be seen if this relates to the Wii U version as well – we doubt it.

A trailer released once again confirms that the game will take place during the American Revolution, with the main character now revealed as Ratohnhake:ton (pronounced Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo), or Connor for short. He has been introduced as a Native American, with his mother being American but having an English background due to his father.

We see much more of the forest elements of the game that we first saw in some leaked screenshots yesterday, and there’s one scene in particular where we see Connor almost ‘free running’ on some trees which will probably get a lot of you talking. The game looks fantastic in our opinion, although we’ve read that some of you are not too impressed by some of the facial models seen on some of the characters.

With a Wii U version on the way too – does that perhaps suggest that it could end up being the best version compared to the other three? Nobody knows for sure what hardware will be included in the Wii U, so we have a sneaky suspicion that the Wii U version is going to be one to look out for.

Check out the trailer below and let us know your initial impressions of the game. Still pumped up for it or not?

I doubt Nintendo’s latest gimmick, the Wii U, will overtake the consoles in general.  This is Nintendo for god sake.  Crazy statement to think the Wii U version will be better.

Got Assassins Creed Revelations for the PC the other day, and have to say I’m impressed yet again.  AC is easily in my top 3 series of games, behind Metal Gear Solid and Battlefield, simply because AC is so different compared to other games milking the fps and rpg genres.

Its seems that Ubisoft, though your choices are limited, seem to excel themselves each time they release an AC game.  They just make it better and better every time. Revelations isnt actually that much different to Brotherhood, which isnt really a bad thing, but it makes sense as its an end to Ezio’s story.  One which will undoubtedly make me emotional as I’ve really grown to like Ezio as a character.

AC3 apparently has an open wilderness where you can jump between trees and even hunt deer etc for pelts for your gear and weapons.  And the wilderness is ”roughly the size of Roma” from Brotherhood.  Now…thats EXCLUDING towns/cities?  Woah.  Thats nudging Skyrim huge. Roma in Brotherhood was pretty damn big, and Istanbul in Revelations is even (noticeably) bigger.

With a  new engine and new tech, AC3 looks like it will be truly amazing.  Seriously looking forward to this one.

lol some people..People said the DS was a “gimmick” and that went onto being the biggest selling handheld of all time, and its catching up the ps2 sales for biggest selling system of all time.  The wii “gimmick” totally destroyed this generation’s console market.  Nintendo now with the wii u is actually doing what all the xbox and ps fanboys were whining about.  HD / high end graphics (for a console), normal controls and good online.. the Wii U is doing that while still being innovative and people like you are still complaining.  You just cant please idiots.

Lol to some people?? Wow, let’s put this in a perspective you could grasp hold of. McDonalds advertises over 1,000,000,000 burgers sold. Now I’m sure those mostly consist of the McDouble’s they sell for 1$. Does NOT mean they are good. Just convenient. Another point i’d like to make. Nintendo is abandoning the Wii, they aren’t developing for it anymore. The playstation 2 is STILL getting developed for. 7 years after it’s “10 year lifespan.” You do not see that happening with Nintendo hardware. Nintendo did/does not have major 3rd party support for any of it’s hardware, that’s not an opinion that is FACT. The only original IP’s Nintendo has are: Zelda/Mario/Kirby/Metroid and something else that obviously isn’t important. Nintendo has sat and banked off these franchises for over 20 years and STILL has not came up with anything new. Re-hash after another. Believe me no one is going to take the WiiU seriously. It’ll have support for the next 2 years (if that) then 3rd party developers will abandon it completely for the next generation of PS3/360, leaving you with re-hashed games for the rest of WiiU’s lifespan. Which if the Wii is anything to go by, extremely short.

You aren’t wrong, but most of the games for ps3 and xbox are just rehashes too. The whole industry is nonsense.

Every shooter that gets released nowadays somehow gets classified as an rpg. So much marketing nonsense.

Well on that note, I’m thinking more along the lines of original IP. Nintendo hasn’t created anything (memorable anyway) that has had any lasting effect, let alone been impactful. I would quote Microsoft xbox but there are only 2 gen’s of their system, so I’ll go with Sony. The (Sony owned) Naughtydog developing team has come up with 3 separate franchise’s (Crash Bandicoot, Jak n Daxter and Uncharted) over 3 generations of console’s alone, with another original IP coming in the form of “The last of Us” this console generation. I just don’t understand how some people can sit and let a corporation like Nintendo get away with releasing the same product, literally, for 20 years and be ok with it. Not just ok, but defend them at that!! I could go into detail, but I’d rather not. Lets just say this, Sony has over 17 original IP’s, Nintendo has less than 10 (hard pressed to think of more than 4 ^^^^.)
