HTC ICS update schedule revealed, not long to wait

By Gary Johnson - Jan 9, 2012

Back in November HTC revealed the first batch of smartphones that would be receiving the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system update. Today we can tell you about the HTC ICS update schedule after it was revealed, and there is not long to wait before certain handsets will be getting the operating system.

We have spoke before about Android fragmentation and that HTC were one of the better manufacturers for upgrading its Android devices. Now handsets such as the HTC Sensation, Sensation XL, Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, Amaze 4G, and Evo 3D and EVO Design 4G have been given a rough guide when they will be receiving the update.

According to Pocketnow HTC Turkey has taken to Facebook to reveal details about the update, and besides the EVO 3D that was supposed to be updated last month other handsets will be updated this month.

The three HTC Sensation smartphones are listed to be getting updated this month, along with the Amaze 4G, Rezound, Evo Design 4G, and Vivid. Currently the HTC Thunderbolt has a confirmed status for sometime during the first quarter of 2012. Other handsets such as the HTC Desire HD and Wildfire S have a yet to be verified status alongside them.

Hopefully these handsets along with many other HTC devices will still get updated at some point in the future. Older handsets such as the original Desire are unlikely to be receiving the upgrade after all the trouble there was with the Gingerbread update.
