GTA 5 meets New Year predictions

By Gary Johnson - Jan 2, 2012

As we now enter another calendar year we can start to look forward to the upcoming big game releases. One of the most highly anticipated titles of 2012 will undoubtedly be the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Today we can tell you that GTA 5 meets with many New Year predictions of being the biggest release of the year.

2011 saw some massive games being released that included the usual yearly releases of FIFA and Call of Duty. But we also saw some titles that have been looked forward to for years such as Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, which led us to ask if such titles were giving you more for your money. Now in 2012 many bloggers are predicting that GTA 5 will define gaming this year, and while we can’t necessarily agree with that it must be better than many annual releases.

Adam Barnes of NowGamer thinks the upcoming GTA release will unite fans of the franchise again. Many would have preferred the OTT violence and antics of the older titles in the franchise, while others would have preferred the story telling of the last game. Now this year’s installment of GTA promises to have the best parts of both sides.

Meanwhile Dougie Veney over at Stickskills feels that while the teaser trailer was impressive, the game itself will change the gaming market itself once it is released. CVG are also predicting big things with GTA 5, and one thing that could prove to be massive if it comes is the multi character Co-Op feature.

Since we first heard a new GTA title was in the works there has been many predictions and rumors about the release date, and also the lead gender of some of the games characters. Sadly at the moment there is not a lot of other news about the game, although we have found one rumor that states the release date has been confirmed.

Here it claims the release date of GTA 5 to be during the month of May, but obviously how accurate this is remains to be seen. Do you think GTA 5 will be the game of 2012?

I think the May release is just terrible and it won’t happen at all.

Rockstar’s Max Payne 3 is releasing in March, and Rockstar has been highly promoting the game a few weeks after the release of LA Noire, which was almost 8 months ago. GTA V was recently announced in October 25 (Which is a usual release date for every GTA if you’ve noticed), how can it be released immediately after Max payne 3 when Rockstar has barely showed anything to us about V besides the location and setting? I can guarantee you that Rockstar will give us a ton of detail after the release of Max payne 3

by showing its patterns with its recent GTA’s (except for IV due to its technical problems, which made it delay from October 2007 to April 2008), Rockstar will release GTA V around the time every other GTA gets released.

    • But why would you release a trailer a whole year before a games release? The buzz, although still apparent, will have undoubtedly died down.

  • Oh it’s a top contender no doubt. It’ll take some incredibly strong to beat GTA 5 to the top spot this year, and I don’t think anything will come about with the entertainment needed to knock GTA out of the running. May seems like a good date for a release, about 6 months after announcing the game and putting out a trailer is generally considered to be the norm these days.
