If you are a lover of supercars even if you can’t quite afford to buy one, there is no harm in looking and dreaming of a wind fall or two. Today the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster takes a bow, and brings a drop top to the already great car.
Noah Joseph over at Autoblog is reporting that the new supercar has lost the gullwing doors of the coupe version. The experts at Mercedes have made the body stiffer and fitted normal doors, but managed to add only 88lbs in the process. The new roof can be raised or put away in only eleven seconds, and at speeds up to 31 mph. It is also available in beige, black and red.
The car has been limited to a top speed of 197 mph, and can manage to reach 60mph in 3.7 seconds. Other new features include new AMG Drive Unit, electronically adjusted Adaptive AMG Sport Suspension, and AMG Performance Media system that displays and tracks the cars telemetrics.
It will be making an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall which should coincide with deliveries beginning in the US. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
