Galaxy Nexus tipped by US retailer for Dec. 9, Verizon price revealed?

By Gary Johnson - Nov 25, 2011

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was released in the UK last week, but so far there hasn’t been any confirmed date when the handset will be available for consumers in the US. You would have thought Samsung would have wanted the device available in time for Black Friday. We now have news that the Galaxy Nexus is tipped by a US retailer for December 9th availability, as the Verizon pricing for the handset is also revealed.

A US retailer has Tweeted and suggested the handset will be available on the 9th of December, which is only one day after earlier reports have been hinting at. Redmond Pie is reporting that Negri Electronics took to Twitter to say the date that they think they will begin selling the device. They commented that the date was based on information they had received from their contact at Verizon.

Meanwhile an article over at Electronista is reporting that Verizon has let the cat out of the bag regarding pricing for the handset. A promotion has been leaked with the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE priced at $199 with a two year contract. Currently though the smartphone cannot be preordered from the carriers website.

This could have been a special promotion the carrier was going to run for Black Friday though if the device had been made available last week. We have reported before that the handset could have been delayed in the US to sort the issue affecting the sound. Verizon normally launches its new flagship handsets at $299, so it would be highly appealing to consumers if the lower price was correct.

  • I am buying the Galaxy Nexus on launch. $199 or $299, it doesn’t matter to me. However, I would rather it be $199 so that I can also pick up some accessories like a car charger and a home/ car dock.
