MW3 leaks for Xbox 360 – Xbox Live bans likely

By Jamie Pert - Nov 2, 2011

Recently on Twitter we notice quite a few tweets suggesting that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for the Xbox 360 has leaked, we looked into things and we can confirm that the game has turned up on multiple websites around the world, for obvious reasons we will not be linking you to these.

According to someone on Twitter (who asked to remain anonymous) the game is region free and requires the Ixtreme LT+2.0 flash, we are not experts on this, but there are also mentions of XGD3 0800, SSV2 and a stealth patch. We presume that the latter means that anyone playing this will be “safe” from Microsoft, Activision and whoever else is taking measures against MW3’s piracy, but we really recommend that you wait for the game’s official release to avoid getting your console banned.

Almost a year ago lots of people got banned from Xbox Live when their consoles were linked to pirate copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops, therefore we think it is likely that a similar thing will happen this time around if people circum to temptation and illegally download MW3. By playing an illegal copy of the game you are risking getting your Xbox 360’s live capabilities taken away, but we are sure that some people won’t be put off by this.

To our knowledge the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 servers are not yet online, therefore anyone who downloads the game will only have offline game modes such as the campaign to play through. The servers will probably go live near to the game’s release date (November 8), but don’t be too surprised if a title update is rolled out across Xbox Live between now and then which will block pirates from playing the game.

Do you think pirates who download MW3 deserve to get their Xbox 360’s banned?
