Battlefield 3: Open beta release date update, Medal of Honor buyers mad

Following on from the recent screenshot leak appearing to show the Xbox 360 beta in action, we have some more information on the highly anticipated multiplayer beta for Battlefield 3, especially important for those of you who picked up the Limited Edition version of Medal of Honor.

A collection of rumors on when the beta will be beginning and who will gain access to it first have been plastered all over the internet over the past few days. One rumored release date for the beta is September 27th, although this has yet to be officially confirmed by DICE.

And then there’s the huge issue of who gets access to the beta and when. A recent Tweet by DICE VO Producer, Tomas Danko has solved a partial piece of the puzzle by stating that Medal of Honor gamers will gain access to the open beta first, and then they will be followed by gamers who participated in the recent alpha trial of the game providing they received an email from EA confirming their access into the beta.

We’re guessing that after MoH and alpha testers are out of the way, EA will then open up the Battlefield 3 open beta to the masses and everyone will be able to join in on the fun, but wait – there’s still one major twist that we’re hearing about. Information over at RipTen reveals that the early access that had been promised to Medal of Honor limited edition buyers is only 48 hours in fact, and then after 24 hours, they will then be joined by the alpha testers, making the whole ‘early access’ deal seem rather pointless.

If you spent the extra cash on Medal of Honor, you are definitely entitled to feel a bit hard done by, since your early test will last mere hours before the global zoo hound the servers and demand their time with the beta too. It seems like a bit of a situation for EA to manage, so we’re hoping that everyone gets their chance to try the game out before the game releases on October 25th.

Did you buy the limited edition of Medal of Honor? If so, how do you feel about this situation. As for those of you who took part in the alpha trial – did you receive the email from EA?
