Yesterday Treyarch released patches for the PS3 and PC versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops, these somehow managed to slip under our radar, therefore we thought we would bring your up-to-date with what changes these updates brought to the game.
Let’s start with the update for PlayStation 3, patch 1.11 doesn’t bring anything amazing to the game, however it does prepare the console for the Annihilation map pack which will arrive tomorrow, as you would expect the update bring a few welcome security updates. We can confirm that post update Search and Destroy gamers should notice some audio tweaks when planting or defusing the bomb, however no further details were divulged. One other thing which we can confirm is that PS3 gamers will be able to take full advantage of double XP this weekend!
As previously stated a PC update for Black Ops was also rolled-out yesterday, this was called patch 1.12. Treyarch didn’t go into huge detail, but did say that modders could now take advantage of increased asset pool sizes and the listassetpool command, also gamers should notice less issues when watching films through combat record and also when in Combat Training hardcore game settings should no-longer be erroneously reset. Other mentionable changes include minor changes to how you can capture the flag in CTF (your flag needs to be at your base, regardless of Touch Return), screenshot stability should be improved, players should not look like they are spinning when firing a Valkyrie rocket and finally you will also be glad to hear that various exploits have been fixed.
With the Annihilation DLC hitting the PlayStation Network tomorrow we are sure that some of you will be keen to earn Trophies by completing Shangri-La’s easter eggs, the question is will you snub double XP weekend just to get some hours to your name on this mysterious new zombie map?
If Xbox 360 gamers are a bit bored of the game’s original maps and zombies maps along with those which the First Strike, Escalation and Annihilation DLC releases brought to Black Ops don’t worry, we are led to believe that the Retaliation map pack will arrive in September, there has been no official confirmation of this and there are some sceptics who think it isn’t real, therefore we will have to keep you posted as we hear more.
Will you buy the Annihilation DLC when it hits the PSN tomorrow?
