It has been a long time since the original Tekken hit our arcade machines in 1994, and later the PlayStation in 1995. It was an instant success, and continues to impress, even standing up to many of the best fighting games to this day. That was 17 years ago, but today, PlayStation 3 gamers have a special exclusive with the announcement of Tekken Hybrid that includes a fully remastered HD version of Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken Blood Vengeance, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue.
We know which one those above really stood out at you. Yes, Tekken Tournament 2 Prologue is coming exclusively to PS3 with four playable characters, who also appear in the bundled CG movie ‘Blood Vengeance,’ and can be yours to buy “pre-Xmas,” says the official Playstation Blog.
Now we know what you’re thinking, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has not yet been announced for consoles, and has been an arcade exclusive ever since the Tokyo Game Show back in September last year. We expect to see an official console announcement at Gamescom or this year’s TGS though, and with PS3 getting this full exclusive, we can only guess where it is going to end up.
As part of Tekken Hybrid, you get a full HD rendition of Tekken Tag Tournament that lets you play with Tekken favourites such as King, Jun amd Kazuya Mishima. You will have to unlock the classic Tekken Bowl mode, and it comes with all the bells and whistles of Playstation Network trophies too.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue, probably the highlight of the package will feature full 3D support and four playable characters that also appear in Tekken Blood Vengeance; Alisa, Xiaoyu, Devil Kazuya and another yet unannounced character will be fully playable. When we find out who the unidentified character is, we will be sure to let you know as soon as we do.
Tekken Blood Vengeance is a fully featured, full length 3D CGI movie that takes place after the events of Tekken 5. It is based around the corrupt Mishima Zaibatsu, and delves further into secrets yet to be uncovered by Ling Xiaoyu and Alisa Bosconovitch, who must survive to expose the mysteries that could mark the end for the Mishima family forever.
As you can tell, the release is not all that far away now and we’re sure we will have lots of news regarding Tekken Hybrid in the near future. The two questions that are on our lips though, is who is the 4th unnamed character for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue, and what consoles will be treated with the final release of Tekken Tag Tournament 2?
