When TimeGate Studios’ popular first-person shooter game Section 8: Prejudice – the direct sequel to the 2009 title Section 8 – first launched back in April this year, it was only available on Xbox Live Arcade. However, it was then launched for the PC a couple of weeks later. This of course left PlayStation 3 owners wondering when they would get the much-anticipated game.
We have really good news now for those of you that are waiting for the game to arrive on the PlayStation Network, as the developer has just confirmed the PS3 release date. According to Bryan Perez (community manager at TimeGate Studios) on blog.us.playstation.com, the game will arrive on the North American PSN on July 26th and the European PSN on July 27th.
It looks as though the PS3 version is definitely going to be worth the 3-month wait. Not only has TimeGate Studios spent that time optimizing the game for the platform, they’ve also added in some extra content for good measures. This includes 2 additional multiplayer modes: Skirmish and Assault. They’ve also added in exclusive content for PlayStation Plus members.
Don’t worry if you’re not a PlayStation plus subscriber though, as the developer is also offering some other free content. Anyone who purchases the Section 8: Prejudice game from PSN within the first week of release will receive the ‘Overdrive Map Pack’ and the ‘Blitz Armor Pack’ for free. This will provide them with 2 additional MP maps, early unlocks and 2 armor skins.
Meanwhile, the first 1000 PlayStation Plus subscribers to purchase the game will not only net themselves the exclusive in-game Hunter Armor, they will also receive a free copy of the original Section 8 title. All the free content that the developer is offering gamers in the launch week is nothing really compared to all the content included in the actual game itself.
The Section 8: Prejudice game will not only provide gamers with a 5-hour story-driven campaign (which sees players taking on the role of Captain Alexander Corde), it also features 4 different multiplayer modes, highly customizable weapon and equipment loadouts, deep level progression, unlockable content systems, jetpacks and Dynamic Combat Missions.
Besides the campaign mode, the Section 8: Prejudice game also offers the Conquest, Skirmish, Assault and Swarm multiplayer modes. Conquest will see you and up to 32 players fighting to control the battlefield. Each team (8th Armored Infantry or the Arm of Orion) competes to complete a number of objectives in order to earn Victory Points.
Skirmish is a team-versus-team deathmatch-based mode where Victory Points are awarded for completing Dynamic Combat Missions and getting kills. Assault is another team-versus-team mode, while Swarm will see you and three friends defending a single Control Point against waves of computer-controlled Arm or Orion enemy units.
