Recently we spoke about how the Nintendo Wii 2 could take the lead when it come’s to next-gen consoles, now we thought we would ask our readers when they think Sony should release the PlayStation 4.
Currently most rumors suggests that a 2014-2016 release is expected, which means that if the Wii 2 arrives in 2012 it will have up to four years to win over consumers who are looking for a jump in performance. We think the PS4’s major competition will be Microsoft’s next console, many believe that this will be called the Xbox 720 and will build on the strong foundations set by the Xbox and Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 had a year head start over the PlayStation 3 which resulted in lots of loyal PlayStation gamers jumping to Microsoft’s console, over the years things have balance out due to RROD issues and exclusive titles hitting the PS3, however we can’t help but think that it would be in Sony’s interest to release the PS4 before the next-gen Xbox is unveiled.
We would love to hear your feedback on this matter, we believe that PlayStation 3 titles are finally starting to reach their true potential and testing out the console’s true capabilities, also the PlayStation Move motion controller has has improved the PS3’s lasting appeal, but how much longer can the PS3 remain Sony’s flagship console?
We have set up a simple poll below to gain some feedback, feel free to answer it and share your thoughts in the comments section (naturally people will want the PS3 asap, but think about things in the bigger picture).
