HTC Wildfire S / Desire S handsets heading to Australia

We have some pretty exciting news now for those of you that live down under and are possibly thinking about upgrading your current Android smartphone, as we’ve just discovered that both the HTC Wildfire S and Desire S handsets are heading to Australia.

According to Joshua Munoz at, both handsets will be available exclusively on Telstra. As Ben Hodgson (Country Manager for HTC Australia and New Zealand) notes, the HTC Desire S will be on sale as from May 31st, while the Wildfire S will be available as from July 19th.

The HTC Desire S – which is the successor to the popular and award-winning HTC Desire smartphone – is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and comes with a 3.7-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480 x 800, front and rear facing cameras and Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Meanwhile, the HTC Wildfire S is powered by a 600MHz processor, weighs 3.7 ounces with the battery and comes with a 3.2-inch touch screen display with a 320 x 480 resolution, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense, Ambient light sensor and a 5-megapixel camera with flash and auto-focus.
