T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 MIA From Roadmap

By Peter Chubb - May 18, 2011

In an article that we will look into more a little later we have noticed that the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 is MIA from their 2011 Roadmap. Now we should not read too much into this, as it was a leak after all, but how come there are 12 new handsets coming this year and the S2 does not even get a mention?

We already know of the names of the Sprint, Verizon and AT&T versions, Within, Function and Attain respectively. Now maybe T-Mobile is staying a little coy here, or maybe there is more to this than meets the eye. Just maybe there will not be a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2, considering the AT&T merger deal?

We cannot see a good enough reason why they would not get this handset; the Galaxy S was one of the most popular Android handsets last year. Maybe they feel that they have enough handsets coming to the market this year, or maybe they have their sights set on another handset – the iPhone 4S/5?

Lets say for one moment that the Galaxy S2 does not make it to T-Mobile, then what will their flagship smartphone be then? The smart money is on the HTC Sensation, but will this be enough? We will keep you informed once we know more.

If T-Mobile drops the ball on the Galaxy S2, and tries to shove some second-tier offering in its place, then they'll be losing three contracts here in short order. I've always bit my tongue at the suggestions that T-Mobile doesn't keep up with the best phones, but if they don't release the Galaxy S2, it will be impossible not to recognize the glaring oversight. It just doesn't make any sense. Verizon is starting to look much more attractive.
