According to Spencer Dalziel over at theinquirer.net, the new phone, which has been dubbed the Vodafone 858 Smart, is powered by a 528MHz MSM7225 Qualcomm processor, runs on Android 2.2 Froyo OS and comes with a 2.8-inch capacitive touch-screen with a 320 x 240 resolution.

It also comes with a 2MP zoom camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 3G, 130MB of memory, an SD card slot that supports up to 32GB and a battery that should provide around 250 minutes of usage. The Vodafone Smart also comes with integrated social networking functionality.

The handset will come boxed with Gmail, Google Talk and Google Maps, as well as access to the Android Market. The Vodafone Smart will be available sometime in the summer for around £80 / €90. As noted by Andy Merrett at cnet.co.uk, the phone will be available in both black and white.
