BlackBerry Playbook: 10 Inch Model – 2011 Release Date Hints

By Alan Ng - May 5, 2011

We have some important news for those of you who are thinking of picking up a Blackberry Playbook but are yet to do so, as we’re hearing reports that RIM are planning to release a bigger, 10-inch version of the Playbook later on this year.

The news has surfaced from this exclusive report from BGR, who have been told by their sources that a successor to the Playbook is coming at the end of the year. Specific details on this follow-up are not known yet, but it’s thought to be a 10-inch version this time, unlike the current Playbook which is available to buy now with a 7-inch display.

In our opinion, it would be a smart move for RIM. This may be a rumor just now, but we definitely see it happening. RIM has probably seen what Samsung has done with their Galaxy Tab, ie – releasing as many tablet varieties as they possibly can. It may not be good news for consumer’s wallets, but it’s also good to have an alternative.

For those of you who are yet to buy the Playbook, would you prefer this bigger 10-inch model, or is the 7-inch still on your agenda? We’ll let you know when we have more details on this rumor.

  • I had the 7 inch and took it back. It was a nice model and worked great but I have a iPad2 as well and prefer the screen size
