Nintendo 3DS Firmware Update in May – Early List of Changes

By Jamie Pert - Apr 26, 2011

We are hearing reports suggesting that Nintendo will be rolling out a new firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS in May, at the moment details are pretty scarce, however a recent article posted on SiliconEra gives us a little insight as to what we can expect this update to bring.

If SiliconEra’s article turns out to be accurate the new firmware version will bring access to the 3DS eShop, here you will be able to download games and trailers you can find out more about the Nintendo eShop here.

We imagine that there will be lots of changes made “under the hood” to improve gameplay etc, we have also heard that it will bring a new web browser which can be accessed even when your playing a game.

The Japanese gamers will receive a 3D Classics version of Excitebike upon installation which is great for fans of retro titles, however there doesn’t seem to be any giveaway for 3DS owners in other regions

As and when we hear more about this firmware update we will keep you posted, in the mean time use the comments section to let us know what improvements and features you would like to see when the update is released.
