HTC Flyer: Pre-Order Price at Best Buy – Xoom Better Deal or Not

By Alan Ng - Apr 25, 2011

We have some important news for those of you planning to pick up the HTC Flyer or HTC EVO View 4G as it’s also known. The device is now available for pre-order for US customers and Best Buy will be the only place you can get one for the time being.

If you’re interested in picking up HTC’s first tablet, you can now pre-order one on Best Buy’s website here, priced at $499, as reported from Phandroid. The pre-sale started yesterday (April 24th) and according to Best Buy’s official press release, the device will launch later ‘this Spring’, but no official date was mentioned.

Just to refresh you on specs, the Flyer is a 7-inch device with specs such as a 1.5Ghz single core Qualcomm processor, 1Gb of RAM, a 5 megapixel rear camera with 1.3MP front-facing camera and 32GB of internal storage, expandable via MicroSD card.

From early inspection, the HTC Flyer looks like a very fast device even if it only comes with a single-core processor, but it’s important to note that it will still ship with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and not Honeycomb like most of the other competitors out at the moment.

Who is planning to get one from Best Buy for $499 – is it a good deal in your opinion, or is one of the other tablets on the market such as the LG G-Slate and Motorola Xoom a better option?

I am temtped to get this one. I would love to find 7" device with a decent battery that runs Honeycomb but so far both of these options dont seem to be available.

It seems like a good deal. I recently bought the playbook, and although it is good, I think that this is going to be more useful for everyone, not just blackberry users.
