Back in February we announced that the Final Fantasy III game – originally released back in 1990 – was due to be released for the iPhone and iPod Touch sometime in March. Although the app was also compatible with the iPad, Square Enix has now decided to release an iPad-only version.
According to Richard Meads over on the pocketgamer.co.uk website, the iPad-only version of the Final Fantasy III game, which follows a party of adventurers as they set out in search of the 4 crystals of light, will be released onto the Apple App Store on April 21st. It’s priced up at £9.49/€12.99/$15.99.
When Tracy Erickson reviewed the iPhone version of Final Fantasy III shortly after it was released last month, he gave it a Pocket Gamer Silver Award. Final Fantasy II was the very first title to use the ‘Job System,’ which enables players to give their heroes job-based buffs including the thief’s ‘steal’ ability.
The iPad-only version will now doubt include pretty much the same features as the iPhone / iPod Touch version, including new and improved 3D visuals and smooth, intuitive touch-screen controls. Do you own an Apple iPad? If so, will you be downloading the Final Fantasy III game?
