Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – Naughty Dog Unveils More Details

By Tina Chubb - Apr 12, 2011

We have some rather interesting news now for those of you that are waiting for the third installment in the Uncharted video game series – titled Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – to arrive later this year, as the developer Naughty Dog has just unveiled some more details.

According to Tom Hopkins over on the nowgamer.com website, the desert featured in Uncharted 3, which has now been confirmed as Arabia’s Rub’ al Khali – will contain all the usual phenomena you’d expect from a desert, including mirages and sandstorms.

Besides the previously-unveiled burning French chateau, both Drake and Sully will also find themselves in the Empty Quarter looking for the Iram of the Pillars, a traditional jungle setting and the streets of London. The game is also said to feature a new melee system.

The new melee system enables Drake to use environmental objects as weapons. The developer has also hinted that motorcycles could well be making a series debut in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, as well as there being a possibility of an Uncharted 4 game in the future.

Naughty Dog also stated that it would alert fans if the developer ever decided to have an open beta for Uncharted 3. What do you think of the latest details?

What do I think? Give me the beta!

Cool idea with mirages. Should hopefully make the game a bit more confusing to navigate around. I also like that you can use so many objects as weapons in the game. Something which a lot of other developers are doing these days and it's good that we won't be missing this in UC3. However, I would like to know if the environment is completely destructible, as the rumours suggest

Enviroments are destructible. It’s pretty sweet
