If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the new ThinkPad W520 then we have some news you might be interested in as Lenovo have announced their 15.6” notebook is now up for sale.

The W520 was first announced back in February and will cost at least $1,449 to start with, which includes the Intel Core-i7 processor. Also to start with it includes the NVIDIA Quadro 1000M Optimus graphics, 4GB RAM and its chip is a 2.7GHz Core i7-2620M.

If you’re willing to pay a little extra you get to experience the Quadcore 2.2GHz Core i7-2720QM processor. This will set you back an extra $200 however with the basic W520 costing $1,449 and this version costing $1,649.

Other options available include integrated WWAN and Bluetooth 3.0, 160GB SSD or up to 500GB HDD, as much as 8GB RAM and up to 1920 x 1080 display with the standard being 1366 x 768. A standard model will also include Wi-Fi, a 6-cell battery and a DVD burner.

The ThinkPad W520’s nearest competitor is the popular 15” MacBook Pro which is also equipped with the Quadcore processor, except it has a few advantages including more hard-drive capacity as standard, that’s if you’re willing to pay $2,199 for the basic device.

More details can be found in the article at Slashgear. What do you think of the ThinkPad W520? Would you get one instead of the MacBook Pro? Let us know in the comments below.

I am from Belgium. Here we cannot make our setup and specs from the lenovo website so we have to choose out off 3 or 4 models avalible from resellers, unfortunatly.
I noticed a big difference in price with all the models between Belgium and Holland… Would it be ok if I bought my w520 in holland or is there a difference bethween for example NY54DMH and NY54DMB? Or is it the H for Holland and the B for Belgium?
Hope you can help me out!
