Motorola Milestone: Android 2.2 Froyo Update Live, But Is it Too Late?

By Alan Ng - Mar 16, 2011

This is definitely a case of better late than never. Motorola Milestone owners in Europe have cause for celebration now, as we can confirm that Motorola has just gone live with the official Android 2.2 Froyo update for handsets.

To get the update in Europe, you’ll need to connect your Milestone to a computer and head to Motorola’s support page here, as reported from Phandroid. This means that the update won’t be happening OTA so don’t wait around for a notification because you won’t get one.

Key features of the update include Adobe 10.1 Flash Player, better web browser performance, 3g mobile hotspot support, automatic app updates, improved WiFi connectivity and much more. You can check out the full release notes in this PDF file here we’ve picked out for you.

How many of you are still proud owners of the Milestone, also known as the Motorola Droid for US? Don’t forget that the US has had the Froyo update for almost a year now, so there definitely is a bit of favoritism going on we think. Still though, 2.2 is obviously better than 2.1, but don’t get your hopes up about 2.3 Gingerbread appearing anytime soon.

Let us know once you’ve downloaded it.

Same problem here. I live in Sweden and I upgraded my Milestone to Froyo and now it seems to go SLOWER
than when I had 2.1. Sometimes it turns of by itself too. If I press on an app, it takes longer time before it´s activated. I there anyway I can get rid of these problems? Would it help if I made a factory reset?
