Apple doesn’t comment on rumors, but you could always count on their routine for yearly product launches, which some next-generations have been less than 12-months. The iPhone 5 release date has become unclear in recent weeks thanks to Apple stepping out of routine.
First we had the Verizon iPhone 4 launch that was a surprise, this device should have launched as a Verizon iPhone 5, and instead it will cause some people problems if they’ve only just bought the Verizon iPhone 4.
The recent tweet that quickly disappeared could be seen as confirmation for a white iPhone 4 in April, and one analyst also hinted at this last week, which said production for the white iPhone 4 should start in March.
Recent Apple rumors must always be taken with a pinch of salt, but some will be close to the truth although they do confuse what might happen with the iPhone 5.
We expect three situations to unfold, the first would be a white iPhone 4 to release for Verizon only within the next 2-months, which would also point to Verizon getting iPhone 5 in January 2012 (one year on). The AT&T white iPhone 5 would be in June/July after WWDC 2011.
The second situation would be a white iPhone 4 coming to AT&T and Verizon within the next 2 months, although this does seem a little pointless with the 5th-generation so close to release.
Our final prediction would be Apple completely surprising us with a white iPhone 5 coming to AT&T and Verizon early, maybe in May. This would not follow the WWDC routine, but you never know with Apple.
Would do you expect Apple to do with the iPhone 5 release date?
