Xbox 720: Microsoft Start Preparations – Release Date Predictions?

By Alan Ng - Mar 8, 2011

We have some exciting news for Xbox fans now, as it has been reported that Microsoft are now hiring for an unannounced new gaming project. However, the description for this listing has led many to believe that this could be for the next generation Xbox console, aka the Xbox 720.

This does like the real deal we have to admit. Check out this listing over at LinkedIn for yourself, as reported by VG247. Here is the key information that you should take note of:

”The Xbox Console Architecture team is hiring for a Graphics hardware architect position. The team is responsible for defining and delivering next generation console architectures from conception through implementation.”

The detailed listing goes on to say that Microsoft requires a team with experience in 3D graphics rendering, graphics hardware implentation and interestingly, there’s a specific requirement for gaming applications.

This page was posted as recently as March 4th, 2011, so this could now be the start of Microsoft’s preparations for the next-gen Xbox. With this in mind, do you think we will see a surprise announcement at E3 2011? A potential launch date for the next Xbox in 2012 doesn’t seem such a long shot after all.

Sony, in the midst of suing a certain individual, we hope you’re paying attention to this.

Seriously? That image has been photoshopped using the branding from the orignal Xbox. Badly.

The position advertised is as likely to be do with bringing Kinect to mass market (maybe even to PC gaming) as the Xbox 720. Pure speculative nonsense.
