CoD Black Ops: Best Selling PS3 Game Ever – Activision

By Jamie Pert - Mar 3, 2011

In a rather bold statement, Activision have claimed that their first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops is the best-selling PlayStation 3 game of all time, beating out Gran Turismo 5 and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Whilst they made this statement, citing data from NPD, ChartTrack and Gfk, they did not reveal specific sales figures for the PS3 version. The announcement came as they got ready to unleash the First Strike DLC, which is now available on the PlayStation Network.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 comes in after Metal Gear Solid 4 in the best selling rankings, but ties in with next-in-line best-seller Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

When Call of Duty: Black Ops was released in November 2010, it made history by becoming the best seller for five-day openings worldwide through dollars, totalling up to over $650 million.

It is no surprise that Call of Duty: Black Ops is sitting on top comfortably ahead of its nearest rival, Gran Turismo 5, but do you think it deserves to be there?

It still doesn't work. I'm not going to purchase the dlc or any other game that FailArch makes in the future.

Wow, arrogant bastards… They did the worse of jobs porting that piece of garbage and now they're bragging about the sales. Why oh why is there so many people paying for that?

I don't think they'll sell half of what mw2 dlc for The ps3 sold.
