Killzone 3: More popular than Call of Duty – Black Ops?

By Chris Cook - Feb 28, 2011

The Call Of Duty franchise is one of the most popular FPS line of games ever and its latest; Call Of Duty: Black Ops is the most successful yet and one of the most popular games ever made. It topped the game charts following its release, even retaining its throne through the slump of January sales.

It looks like that has changed now however with the recent posting of the UK game charts forcing its popularity to be questioned. According to the chart at VG24/7 Killzone 3 is now top, overtaking Black Ops and even beating Bulletstorm to the spot.

The chart represents the full top ten games sales for the week ending February 26th. It shows Black Ops sitting at 3rd place with Bulletstorm above it in 2nd. Killzone 3 takes the throne despite the first-week sales not being as successful as the release of its predecessor Killzone 2.

Has Killzone 3 overtaken the popularity Call Of Duty: Black Ops? Do you think it will stay top for long or will the popularity of the Call Of Duty franchise allow Black Ops to regain its top spot? Let us know your thoughts.

I am looking to try a fresh FPS game and Killzone 3 looks promising. I personally think Call of Duty: Black Ops is one of the smallest FPS game out. I would rather Modern Warfare 2 and 3 or Killzone 3. But not Black Ops or Bulletstorm.

This is asinine…you're saying a new release game is more popular than a game that's been out for over 3 months because it sold more 1 week out of the year? Cod has been on top for months. Only dethroned for a week by a new release. When kz3 sells over 22million units we can say its more popular. Until then lets stay off the everything is better than cod bandwagon.
